The Silk Cut Foundation use a variety of tutors to run our workshops which helps maintain a good variation of styles demonstrated. Currently rotating through our Print Room are Bridget Hillebrandr & Heather Shimmen. Both artists are proffesional artists and have won the coveted Silk Cut Award for Linocut prints. Additionally, Bridget & Heather have vast experience in conducting workshops and have the 'knack' of passing on their knowledge to help others.

Our Workshop Program
The Silk Cut Foundation continues to run relief printmaking classes in our Print Room & Gallery facility.
Our workshops have a capacity of up to 10 people and are held within the main room of our gallery / print room... which provides an inspirational setting for learning all about relief printmaking.
We guarantee you will receive the most professional training and advice available in releif printmaking and learn the necressary skills required to help you create various styles of linocut prints.
Additionally, you will meet other artists and generally have a good time!

teachers PD - Basic

This workshop is designed specifically for teachers and will cover information about materials, tools and safe methods of teaching linocut printmaking to students. Participants will produce a linocut print and be shown a variety of printing approaches.
Information will also be given on the correct materials to use in class rooms, including water based inks, cutting guards and paper types.
Participants will also received details on entering their students work in the annual Silk Cut Award for linocut prints.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN -
- Be introduced to the art of linocut printing
- Develop an understanding of the print making medium, the materials and equipment used in printmaking
- Learn how to develop a print design
- Learn how to transfer print designs onto Silk Cut Llino
- Learn lino cutting techniques required to carve a print
- Learn printing techniques with and without the use of a printing press
- Complete one (or more if time permits) linocut print using a number of techniques.
- Learn how to correctly sign and document linocut prints.
- Gain valuable advice on the most cost effective & appropriate tools, paper & inks to use in the class room.
- Be given information on entering your students into the Silk Cut Award - Student & Tertiary Sections.

This workshop is designed specifically for teachers and will cover the correct method of teaching students to create their own MULTI-COLOUR linocut prints. Reduction Lino printing is an easy and relatively quick way of achieving a multi coloured print.

teachers PD - CHINE COLLE´

This workshop provides teachers with information on encouraging students to explore the expressive potential of Lino printing. Alternative image transfer methods, application of traditional and contemporary cutting and printing processes are explained during a one-day workshop. Our Chine Colle' workshop has emphasis on the demonstration and innovative application of colour, texture and collage techniques. Completion of the Teachers PD - Basic workshop OR experience in linocut printmaking is a pre-requisit of this workshop.

The Beginners Workshop is open to anybody interested in learning the essential elements of linocut printmaking. No prior experience is required. Participants will learn all about the tools and materials required to get started in printmaking along with the correct way to design, carve and print a linocut piece.
